Water Filter Finder by Contaminant

What this tool is: tell it what's in your water, and it matches the 39 systems in our dataset by what they are certified — or only claim — to reduce. No taste opinions: every match traces to a certification listing or a published performance data sheet, and certified reductions are labeled differently from manufacturer claims because they are not the same thing.

How to use it: tick everything your water test, well report, or utility's annual water quality report flags. If you know a measured level for one contaminant, the optional level step puts it next to the EPA limit. Matches come back ranked by verified coverage.

What's in your water?

Step 1 — Contaminants (tick all that apply)
Step 2 — System type
Step 3 — Optional: a level you measured
My level is:

Tick at least one contaminant above — the matches appear here, ranked by verified coverage.

Assembling a whole-house system instead? The System Builder takes the same contaminant data and builds a stage-by-stage system — sediment, iron, softener, main filtration, UV, drinking-water RO — with flow, connection, and stage-order compatibility checked across every part, ending in one priced build sheet.
How matching works. Certified means a certification body's listing (NSF, IAPMO R&T, or WQA) covers that contaminant for that exact model. Manufacturer-claimed means the maker's own published data says so, with no certification listing behind it. Reduction percentages appear only where a performance data sheet publishes them. A product with no published data for a contaminant you picked simply doesn't match it — silence is not coverage. The full per-product data, with sources, is in our open dataset; the grading rubric is in the certification guide.
